ICC T20 World Cup: India vs Pakistan stadium in New York nearing completion
Work is progressing at a brisk pace at the Nassau County International Stadium in New York, which is expected to house 34,000 fans

Significant progress has been made in the construction of the Nassau County International Stadium in New York, one of the venues of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup that will be held in the USA and West Indies in June later this year.
The Nassau County International Stadium is the venue for the high-profile India vs Pakistan clash that will take place on June 9. Apart from the India vs Pakistan match, seven more matches will be played in the stadium.
Set to accommodate 34,000 fans, the stadium is expected to be the cynosure of all eyes when it opens its doors to the T20 World Cup and, more importantly, the marquee clash.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) released a time-lapse video of the construction progress of the stadium, situated in New York’s Long Island, to mark the 60-day countdown for the World Cup.
The modular framework for the East Stand is nearing completion, while the West Stand’s framework will be finished in two weeks. The East and West stands will house the maximum number of spectators - estimated at around 24,000. The framework for the North, South and Premium hospitality and media pavilions will take shape in the coming weeks as well, as per an update from the ICC.
Work on the modular stadium’s outfield and the pitch block will still take time.
Chris Tetley, ICC head of events, said he was happy with how the construction of the stadium is progressing. He added that the visit to the stadium, when complete, is something that is not to be missed at all. “We are delighted to be marking 60 days to go to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The project to build a fully modular stadium in Nassau County is a first for international cricket,The ICC T20 World Cup will commence on June 1, withthe USAA taking on Canada in Dallas, and the final will be played on June 29 in Barbados. India will meet Ireland (June 5), Pakistan (June 9), the USA (June 12), and Canada (June 15) before progressing to the knock-out phase. and we are delighted that construction is progressing as planned. The scale of the venue in the latest time lapse is impressive, and a visit to the stadium is not to be missed,” he said, in a statement released by the ICC.
The ICC T20 World Cup will commence on June 1, with the USA taking on Canada in Dallas, and the final will be played on June 29 in Barbados. India will meet Ireland (June 5), Pakistan (June 9), the USA (June 12), and Canada (June 15) before progressing to the knock-out phase.
